Technically it was 23hrs, and 59 minutes. “To finish first, you must first ______"

I’m sure they recognized how much that must have hurt for the Toyota team. They had the race in the bag, assuming we ignore the “it isn’t over until it’s over” adage.

Ain’t that the truth. A race can be won or lost at any point, from the first turn to the final stretch of the last lap.

That’s also why Le Mans is a race like no other. Unpredictalble, and anything can happen at any point, but there’s just so much respect and sportsmanship that whatever the result you can still be glad for something. In LMP1 at least.

Audi won 13 times in 16 years. But I never saw anyone hating on them, because they bring so much racing spirit and respect, everytime. In F1, Hamilton wins two titles in a row and all hell breaks loose.

How often does any manufacturer post anything nice about their competitors? I feel like this is amazing

Completely agree. I wish there was more of this mutual respect within business. We all know we’re out there to compete against the other guys, but we should at least be able to acknowledge our own shortcomings and our competitors’ accomplishments.

Yeah, endurance racing is a very different culture. It’s awesome to see that the community that you see in grassroots budget series, like LeMons and AER, extend all the way up to the top tier of the sport.

Porsche a great embassador for sportsmanship. I’ll always remember their 2013 LeMans tribute video:

Pure class.

Agreed. The closest we get seems to be manufacturers taking little jabs at each other in advertising. Never anything positive.
